Colonel Dexter is Jamie's father. He is a second-generation Army man. His three biggest loves in his life are his family, the Army and football. His favorite NFL team is the Washington Red Skins.
One of his favorite past times is gardening. After the last frost of year, he has a pile of manure delivered to the house so he can start his garden. When the Colonel finds out that TJ enlisted in the Army, he tries to talk TJ out of it and to choose going to college instead. While the Colonel is a dedicated soldier, Jamie learns that her father has a secret.
