Who is Coach Reed from Okay for Now and what is their importance?

Coach Reed is a physical education teacher. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Reed gives Doug a hard time until Doug realizes that the coach is suffering from his experiences in Vietnam in the same way Lucas does. Because of this, Doug is able to show the coach compassion, as a result, Coach Reed learns how to forgive himself for what his actions during the war. In the end, he offers Lucas a job as an assistant coach, which assists Lucas in getting on track with the rest of his life.
