Cindy Lorenzo is an 11-year-old girl that lives on post with her parents. She is the daughter of Mrs. Dexter's best friend, so Jamie often babysits Cindy. Cindy is a slow learner or has a mild case of retardation. In addition to wanting to be a ballerina, Cindy also has invisible friends.
When Jamie shows Cindy TJ's pictures, Cindy picks out the pictures of the moon to keep a copy for herself. Cindy hangs each of TJ's moon pictures on the walls in her room until all of the walls are almost full. Cindy has two older brothers and one of them is fighting in Vietnam.
