Cinderella is the nickname Matt gives to the ten year old girl who practices at the same time as him. She is Lipeng's father's student, and has been sent to him by her parents who are too poor to look after her. Lipeng's father trains and feeds her in return for her help with various chores. Matt thinks that Lipeng's father is pushing her too hard, and sees that she is often as miserable as he is. He tries to cheer her up whenever he can, and finds that she is just like any normal ten year old child when allowed to play and laugh.
