Sulla's former slave, Chrysogonus is Sulla's deputy and an extremely powerful man in Rome. Chrysogonus, whose name is Greek for "Golden-Born" is every bit as handsome as his name would suggest. He is tall and golden-haired, with a "broad jaw and glittering blue eyes". He is a tall man and Gordianus descriebs him as "strongly built". Chrysogonus is also a criminal of sorts, who is known to add the names of wealthy citizens to Sulla's proscription lists in order to loot their estates by purchasing their treasures at auction.
