In "Too Many Leaders," Hill laments the contemporary celebrity culture which has grown up around sporting. He does not envy the celebrity sportsmen who have mastered the gun or reel; instead, he celebrates the average sportsman (including himself in this category), because the average sportsman has a challenge and struggle with sporting that is valuable and life-affirming.
