Captain Lynch is the broken-nosed, incorruptible sea captain John Charity Spring chose to transport Sir Harry Flashman to Baltimore, MD. He is described as a powerful man and supporter of slavery. When Lynch discovers that Flashman is anti-slavery, he assigns Fitzgibbon to fulfill his duties.
