Buford Sheehan, better known as Buck, is a member of the second family that lives in the haunted house. He and his wife, Anita Sheehan, purchase the home in order to start over after the death of their son, and in the wake of Buck's affair with a coworker. Buck promises Anita that is she will recover from her catatonia, he will dedicate himself to making up to her for his unfaithfulness. The house's influence, however, causes Buck to rekindle his affair with Virginia Guthrie...... Anita slips back into her catatonic state when she witnesses their interaction first hand.
