Brian is Anna's ex-husband. Even before the divorce from Anna is finalized, Brian declares that he is to marry another lawyer at his firm named Brenda. Anna is shocked by Brian's revelation, and later says that she believes it was Brian's way of dealing with unresolved feelings about his marriage to Anna.
