Who is Brendaa and Brendah from I, Carmelita Tropicana: Performing Between Cultures and what is their importance?

Brendaa and Brendah are two American girls vacationing in Cuba during the 1955 revolution. They have no idea what's going on and haven't a clue that there is a conflict raging around them. These two young women actually believe that the gunfire around them is merely the sound of fireworks.
