Brenda Forburg was Ellen's high school English teacher. Upon learning of Kate's illness, Mrs. Forburg sent Ellen a letter inviting her over for dinner. Her own mother had died from cancer, and she wanted to help Ellen in any way possible. Mrs. Forburg even bailed Ellen out of jail after she was arrested and allowed Ellen to live with her during the trial.
