Blaine is the monorail train that takes Roland and his group out of Lud into the wastelands. Although Blaine is a machine, he has some sort of artificial intelligence. This intelligence allows him to control the computers in the city, in fact, Blaine is the one who opens the door and allows Roland into the locked room. Blaine is suffering with some sort of mechanical malfunction that has made his angry, sullen and mean.
