Belinda marries Hollis, allowing him to move into the house he envied all through his childhood. However, Hollis is not kind to Belinda. Hollis beats Belinda and refuses to get her help when she begins to suffer pneumonia. Belinda dies of the illness, leaving Hollis the farm he has so desperately wanted to own.
