Barry Kahn is a famous singer. He lives in New York, and while Maggie is in the hospital recovering from her first husband's death, she writes Barry multiple letters about her song writing. When Barry finally gets tired of the deluge of letters, he writes Maggie back and invites her to visit him and sing him one of her songs. When Barry hears her first song, he accuses her of lacking in originality. Her second song, however, leaves him speechless. Barry then employs Maggie and spends long hours helping her with her song writing and singing. He later helps sell one of Maggie's songs to Barbara Streisand, which launches Maggie's musical career.
