Anna was employed as a servant in Viktor Ephrussi's home. During the German occupation Vienna, she was not permitted to work for the family. When the Germans confiscated the family's valuables, Anna was able to hide the tiny netsuke figurines in the pocket of her apron. She later returned them to the family.
