Angelo Tortoni is a mobster who lends money to people in the community and collects a vig or interest on the money until the people can pay the money back in full. Tortoni uses Johnny LaGuardia to collect the money, but is unhappy when Johnny does not introduce him to Doreen. Johnny rapes Doreen repeatedly in exchange for her not having to pay the vig. However, Angelo sees Doreen and believes she would be a good wife for one of his boys. This makes Angelo even angrier with Johnny, resulting in Johnny's murder. When Angelo visits the scene of Johnny's death, Glitsky tells him he believes an ex-cop hired Johnny to kill Ingraham. To cover up his own involvement in Johnny's death, Angelo has the ex-cop killed as well.
