Aethelwulf had five sons, Aethelstan, Aethelbald, Ethelbert, Ethelred and Alfred the Great. He also had a daughter named, Aethelswith. Alfred's older brothers were all kings. Aethelstan was the king of Kent. His other three brothers were subsequent kings of Wessex.
