Adolf Hitler, leader of the National Socialist Workers Party in Germany, was the dictator of Germany from 1933 until 1945, when he took his own life. Hitler joined the Nazi party in 1919, going on to become its leader in 1921. He advocated for German Nationalism, anti-Semitism, anti-capitalism, anti-communism, and propaganda. He was a proponent of social Darwinism and believed in racial supremacy, especially the supremacy of the German people. After taking power, Hitler quickly formed the Hitler Youth..... intent upon preparing a new generation of soldiers and leaders who had never known anything but his rule.

Over the course of his story, Alfons describes the way in which he became devoted to Hitler. He also highlights meeting his hero for the first time. Hitler is Alfons's God, a God he later views as both a traitor and criminal. In the end, Alfons believes that Hitler victimized the entire German people.
