What is the symbolism of the letters in Christie's, The A.B.C. Murders?

The letters represent misleading communication, or deception. In the case of the letters that Poirot receives, he receives a lot of letters that he thinks are from the ABC murder, but they are not. The letters are also fraught with arrogance and pride, a misleading trait of Cust.
