One Crazy Summer by Rita Willaims-Garcia is about three sisters who have to go spend the summer with their mother, Cecile who abandoned them many years before. While there they are sent to a summer camp for radical black panther members and their families. Learning to become strong inwardly, the three sisters are able to come to some peace in regards to the mother who still does not want them, and their own place in the world.
