What is the meaning behind each of this quote? • “The children had given him the same simple obedience that they had given to the men with megaphones.” (Chapter 1 pg. 18)

Ralph is the closest person to an adult that the boys recognize. Ralph is physically bigger than most of them and has the conch. The conch reminds the boys of the megaphone that adults would carry. With no adults around, the boys, except for Jack, freely give their initial obedience to Ralph.
