Freytag's triangle (pyramid) is a simple triangle, which is used to represent dramatic structure. In the triangle, Freytag highlights the seven parts he considered necessary to storytelling:

• exposition

• inciting incident

• rising action

• climax

• falling action

• resolution

• denouement
