In my opinion, yes, this could happen in real life. Carjackers are a reality, telling people to check their car before getting in has long been cautionary advice. The fact that Diana was in danger and that that the person following her was a Good Samaritan who saw the danger she was in is also possible. There are good people, who are ready and willing to help those in need.
