In the poem Teenagers by Pat Mora, In the first line, the speaker says, “One day they disappear.” Who are the “they” in the poem? Hint: Think about the title...?

Poem:

"One day they disappearinto their rooms.Doors and lips shut, and we become strangersin our own home.I pace the hall, hear whispers,a code I knew but can’t remember, mouthed by mouths I taught to speak.Years later the door opens.I see faces I once held, open as sunflowers in my hands. I seefamiliar skin now stretched on long bodiesthat move past meglowingalmost like pearls."

They are the speakers children... growing up and acting independently.
