In "Araby" What details help support that the narrator realizes that his imagination and anticipation does'nt coincide with the reality he experienced at the market place?

In the story the narrator has visions that he will go to the market place, have a great time and then buy his gift. What actually happens is that due to his Uncle being late he doesn't get there until the market is closing. Then he felt unwanted when he got there, so he bought nothing.
