In 1984, the use of the word 'voluptuously' is used to describe Winston as he writes in his diary. First of all, the use of the word is not indescriminate. The author chose it specifically for the imagery and feelings that the word evokes. Getting to write in a diary, to be a free thinker, is a voluptuous feeling in that society of closemindedness and sameness.
