The narrator's friend actually defines the role of a wife. This role includes caring for the children, her husband, her home..... doing all the cooking, shopping, and preparing. Her role is to take care of her husband's every need.... his calender, appointments, and to make sure that he is allowed ample time for relaxation (she, of course, is not). In addition, he believes a wife should take care of the social calender, she must be ready the attend social gatherings, as well as make preparations to host gatherings at a moment's notice. Sexually, a wife would fulfill his needs, and if her is no longer satisfied..... she should allow him to easily end the marriage.
