Edith Fellowes is smart, knowledgeable, and well versed in the scientific method. She has an analytical mind, she is observant, and she also tends to be judgmental. Sadly, Edith is also a bit oversensitive to people's appearances. She sees herself as unattractive, and over the course of the story, we see that she is also sensitive to unattractiveness in others. Knowing Timmie, however, brings her an entirely new perspective.
