Ann leaves a note for Mr. Loomis, asking him to meet her on the far side of the valley. When Ann sees him leave, she rushes into the yard, puts on the suit, and pulls Mr. Loomis' wagon to the edge of the valley.
Ann allows Mr. Loomis to approach her at the edge of the valley. Ann confronts him, telling him all she knows about Edward and how she knows he will do the same to her. Mr. Loomis begs her to stay, to not leave him alone, but Ann refuses. Ann picks up the wagon's handles and moves into the deadness, hoping to find her valley of children waiting for a teacher.
