While all jobs provide a paycheck, some people seek other rewards from their employment, such as security; tradition; enjoyment; duty or sense of service; personal growth; prestige, power, and status; and socialization. The authors maintain that the focus should be solely on the paycheck, and these other needs should be met elsewhere.
