In the following days Isabella mopes, Edgar waits, and Catherine fasts in her room. On the third day, Catherine asks Nelly for some gruel and eats, moaning that Edgar doesn't miss her. Catherine is certain she is dying, and she can't understand why Edgar is not more concerned.
