Even though the novel is divided into separate sections to tell each characters’ perspective of the story, there is little difference in the language of each character. There are no speech patterns or dialects the differentiate even the quotes attributed to each character. The only character who appears any different at all in terms of speech is the pre-teen Maia with her one-word responses to questions.
