How did The United States deal with the fact that Britain was no longer able to use the "cash and carry" method to buy supplies and weapons from the United States?

Churchill met with President Roosevelt about the fact that Britain could no longer pay up front for the war supplies that they need. Following their meeting, Congress passed the lend-lease act which allowed the British to borrow supplies and pay for them after the war ends.
