Eula's husband, Wallace, is a large, angry, physically abusive alcoholic, who is irate and terrified when Eula comes home with Starla and James. He believes the only way out of the situation is to kill Starla and James and bury them in the woods. When Wallace tries to strangle Starla, Eula stops him by killing him.
