Nature becomes a metaphor for business and life: things die and things live. The law of the jungle is not in the jungle anymore. Sean realizes this when they are bankrupted, and happily goes back into the wilderness whereas Duff is lost in what he has lost. He cannot see that he has gained his freedom from the chains that wealth brings.
