Who is Karp Karpovitch Morozov from We the Living and what is their importance?

Tonia refers to Karp Karpovitch Morozov as "Koko". Koko is a speculator, and he is the man Kira sees outside the train station with a loaf of bread and a ham for sale. When the police are about to search him, he points out a fellow passenger who is then accused of smuggling food into the city. Karp then offers to sell the ham and bread to Kira and Leo. Kira later sees him in a marketplace and notes that he seems to have grown wealthy with an increase in items for sale. Karp, head of the Food Trust, eventually forms a smuggling ring with Leo. Karp is careful that he is not incriminated in the business and puts everything in Leo's name. When they are caught, Karp is told to resign his job and is reassigned away from the city.
