The letter Kevin writes Tamara is a symbol of hope for her. Kevin’s conciliatory tone and the genuine feelings expressed in the letter show Tamara that it is possible to have a future that is safe for black people. The letter shows that Kevin is not racist and reminds Tamara that not all cops are.
