Violeta
What is the importance of the United States in the novel, Violeta?
.
.
Throughout the novel, Violeta travels to and from the United States. Julián Bravo works in Miami and Las Vegas, and he eventually convinces Violeta to move with him to Miami. In Miami, they live in a “hideous pink villa” (172). Violeta often correlates the United States with the criminal world of her husband, as well as the dark underbelly into which Nieves falls during her drug addiction. Later, however, Violeta and Roy Cooper enjoy long, lovely road trips across the country.
