How does the author use allegory in the novel, Victory?

The author uses allegory in the descriptions of his characters. Heyst is compared to the brooding Hamlet or the reclusive Prospero in Shakespeare, Lena is seen as analogous to Shakespeare's Miranda; and the villains are compared to Satanic figures.
