Why was Kasia jealous of Agnieszka in the novel, Uprooted?

Kasia's jealousy or resentment of her best friend stems from the fact that Agnieszka grew up without the worry that Sarkan might take her to live and serve in the tower for ten years, while, she herself, spent her youth honing the necessary skills that would be acceptable to a lord.
