Unreality of Memory
Who is Henri Bergson from the essay collection, Unreality of Memory?
.
.
Henri Bergson was a French philosopher whose work Gabbert references in her final essay "Epilogue: The Unreality of Time." Although Gabbert was writing a book called The Unreality of Memory, until she heard a BBC episode about Bergson's essay "The Unreality of Time," she had never heard of the philosopher or his work. Curious to understand the correlations between their writings, Gabbert read Bergson's essay, discovering that he was in fact arguing that time did not exist. Throughout the epilogue, Gabbert compares and contrasts Bergson's theories to her own as she formulates her closing statements.
