What is the importance of the Jesuit cemetery in the novel, Unbreakable?

The cemetery is important because it is where Kennedy comes into contact with her first vengeance spirit, and it’s how Elvis the cat becomes possessed. Furthermore, it’s the first tip off that Kennedy’s mother knows something more than she’s telling her daughter.
