What is the importance of dialogue in the story, UFO in Kushiro?

While the narrator highlights some of Komura's basic thoughts and feelings, the author uses Komura's dialogue with Shimao, particularly near the end of the story, to explore Komura's emotions and thoughts in much more detail.
