Who is José Esquivel, Sr.?

José Esquivel, Sr. is an independent pharmacist in San Fernando who is murdered by Dmitri Sluchek and Igor Golz. Esquivel had agreed to help supply Sluchek and Golz with painkillers of dubious legality, and is stuck between two sides when his son writes a letter of complaint to the state medical board that would be a huge blow to the profits of the "pill mill."
