What is Shantytown?

There is a shabby collection of tents and broken-down vehicles deep in the Southern California desert, where Dmitri Sluchek, Igor Golz, and the rest of the Belarusian crime syndicate house their group of broken-down opioid addicts, giving them meager rations and essentially leaving them to fight among themselves. The encampment is located close to the Salton Sea, a large inland saltwater lake where the crime syndicate will dump dead bodies from an airplane. After Bosch's undercover investigation, the encampment is located and dismantled, with its "residents" being put into detox programs.
