Importance of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon

When Jerry Edgar visits Bosch's house at night, after the work day, Bosch shares some bourbon with him. Edgar immediately notices the prestigious label, saying that if Bosch had not opened it, "'You coulda bought your daughter a car'" (137).
