Coucilor Broussel (Twenty Years After) is run down in the street by D'Artagnan in their hurry to leave Paris in pursuit of Rochefort. Mazarin is not bothered and is actually pleased that Broussel is injured because it means that he won't be a problem for him later on. The queen later has Broussel arrested but the people complain so loudly that they let him go. When he comes out, he leads a revolt against Mazarin. He is popular because he spoke out against the new taxes that Mazarin levied on the people.
