How does the author use foreshadowing in Trifles?

“No Wright wouldn’t like the bird - a thing that sang. She used to sing. He killed the bird. I knew John Wright.”

Wright's refusal to allow his wife to sing in the choir, foreshadows Mrs. Hale's belief that he would have killed the canary... if only to keep it from singing.
