Importance of Texas

Texas is the last state Ken walks through and though it is "conservative oil country," it is also where Ken meets up with Storms and Jessica. For this reason, Texas represents some of Ken's strongest opposition, but it is also where he meets rare like-minded companions who provide much-needed emotional support. Because Texas is the end of Ken's journey, the state also represents the accomplishment of a major goal in Ken's life and the completion of his journey. It represents his personal success and the fulfillment of his goal to walk the length of the Keystone XL pipeline and raise awareness about climate change.
