At the start of Chapter 28, Peter asks Cole to go to the pool without Garvey... how does Cole feel about the invitation, and what is Peter's true intent?

Cole is thrilled by the invitation and believes that Peter is extending his friendship. We cannot be sure what Peter actually had in his mind, but he attacks Cole in anger... something that would not have happened had Garvey been present.
